New Year's Eve in Christchurch

In keeping with tradition, the last hour of 2013 was spent in making a Holy Hour in front of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The Chapel is lit only with candles for a few minutes and Our Lord is adored in silence.
A Te Deum was sung in order to gain the plenary indulgence and to thank our Lord for all the graces, blessings and crosses received during the year.

After Benediction, the Veni Creator Spiritus was sung in order to gain the indulgence and usher in the New Year

  1. A lovely chapel, how many people can it hold?

  2. I love the chapel. It looks like a stained glass window was added. Very tasteful!

  3. Robert - if people were really squashed in, you could perhaps get 60 faithful into the oratory.

  4. Thank you for your reply. Are you thinking of enlarging the chapel or is it big enough for your congregation? also, did you build it yourselves?

  5. You can see the devotion and dedication in every photo.

why, when we are all so hungry for this sort of nourishment (solemn, beautiful worship in the presence of Our Lord), does soooo many of the guardians and even the parish pastors of the Church want to leave us starving?

  6. heard a wonderful term off the Remnant Underground - 'liturgical patrimony', this rich patrimony is what evident here, and so poorly, or not at all passed on throughout much of the Church.
