DOMINUS EST - It is the Lord!

Most Rev. Athanasius Schneider, O.R.C.,
consecrated bishop on 2 June, 2006, is
Auxiliary Bishop of Maria Santissima in Astana,
Kazakhstan.

Relying on accurate history and good theology,
the author of DOMINUS EST makes a plea for a return to distributing
Holy Communion to kneeling communicants on the tongue —
the practice now restored at papal liturgies by Pope Benedict XVI.

The book written by Bishop Schneider
is available in English.

Dominus Est – It Is the Lord!
Preface by Cardinal Ranjith.

Originally published in Italian by the Vatican Press,
this book offers readers insights into the sacrality
which ought to surround the distribution
and reception of Holy Communion

The book comes with the endorsement of the then two highest officials
in the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship
and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

  1. Great book! I can warmly recommend it.
I have found to the kneeling tongue communion some time ago, mostly because of the example of our Holy Father, but this book reaffirmed me once again.

  2. What a coincidence, I watched this video just the other day! His Excellency Bishop Schneider really "gets it"; he seems to be so in love with the Eucharist and really takes his role as Bishop seriously. It's inspiring. I am praying that one day he will get a red hat, if it be God's will. Cardinal Ranjith is also a great man; I think it was not too long ago (speaking at an Una Voce gathering) he indicated that he wished the 1962 Missal to become the 'Ordinary Form' once again - and I think in Sri Lanka all communicants must kneel and receive on the tongue by his orders. It's all very positive - especially since both of them are young (Bishop Schneider is 50, Cardinal Ranjith 64).

Thank you Lord, for these and all holy, traditional and faithful Catholic Bishops!

  3. I had the very great fortune in meeting H.E. when he was at the FSSP seminary in Wigratzbad ordaining men to the priesthood.

He is without doubt one of the most holy men I have ever met. I recall that just as he was about to give us a blessing, a car containing five seminarians pulled up and they literally tumbled out of the car in their haste to kneel with us to receive the blessing; such was their esteem for him.

I do wish he would be given a "flying Bishop's" role to all societies and orders celebrating the Forma Extraordinaria. One can dream (and pray)!

  4. I have read Bishop Schneider's book. It is very good. Cardinal Ranjith is also a ray of light in the Church. Change is coming, although at a very, very slow pace. If someone like Bishop Schneider, Cardinal Ranjith, or Cardinal Burke ascends to the Chair of Peter, we can hope that the 1962 Missal will become the Ordinary Form at last.

  5. On a related note there is a petition making the rounds started by an Australian priest asking the Holy Father to make receiving on the tongue while kneeling the norm once again. So far it has 1300 signatures; including Bishop Schneider and Cardinal Arinze!
