God bless you, Fathers and Brothers; I received my copy in the post a few days back, and it has been a joy to read.

I got mine yesterday and I was overjoyed to see the life of St. Gerard. I have just recently read the life of St. Gerard by Fr. Saint-Omer, C.SS.R. and the life of St. Alphonsus de Liguori by Frs. Miller & Aubin.
I am very much looking forward to reading this new life of St. Gerard as soon as I finish my current book.

This issue is superb! No Catholic home should be without this absolutely beautiful publication. I read it from cover to cover, and my only regret is that it isn't fifty pages instead of twenty-eight!!

Where might I find out more about Venerable Lino of Parma?

I am not sure if you are serious with your last comment or not but I found this on another Blog re Ted Kennedy which sums up his life regardless of what comes from the Vatican. In fact it would have been more charitble for the Vatican to tell him his postion on abortion, homosexulatiy etc was wrong and he needed to repent.

"I’ll leave the final words to Michael Cook from MercartorNET, because I think that he sums things up very well…

“[Ted Kennedy] was a peculiar kind of Catholic. On the one hand, he always supported big-spending social policies for the last, least, lost and most vulnerable. It was his interpretation of Catholic social teaching. On the other hand, he was a strong supporter of abortion and human embryonic stem cell research. There was no ambiguity about this. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood gave Kennedy ratings of 100 percent as a champion of abortion rights. He ignored criticism from the bishops of his Church.

Through his role as the spokesman for America’s leading Catholic family, Teddy helped to entrench the feeling that Catholicism is a tribal loyalty, not a divine light shining on religious and human truths. The doctrine of separation of Church and State meant that morality and politics had little to do with each other. In fact, political expediency should trump moral truths.

For politicians anywhere, this is a disastrous starting point for debate. It means that it is impossible for them to argue rationally about moral positions. On the issue of abortion, for instance, the Catholic bishops’ opposition was based less on the Bible than on science, which tells us that the foetus is human. On this issue, at least, Kennedy’s self-serving rationalisations turned his politics into expediency and his religion into sentimentality.

Shortly after his death, Mr Obama declared that Ted Kennedy’s “ideas and ideals are stamped on scores of laws and reflected in millions of lives.” Including his own. In particular, when he addresses issues like abortion, stem cell research and same-sex marriage, perhaps the President will be using the dark art of charming without changing which he learned from America’s most famous Catholic.”

We need to pray for his soul and hope he did repent.

Gabrielle,

I stand by the substance of my earlier comment. The only reason that I said to disregard it is that I don't see anything to gain by debating the issue.

I find it quite disheartening to see discussion of the views of a American Catholic politician who lived against the moral values of the Church all of his adult life on this comment area that supports the wonderful Fathers and Brothers on Papa Stronsay!

This is not the place for such a discussion!

God Bless the Fathers and Brothers of Papa Stronsay!
