The Charnetsky arrived some time ago at Papa Stronsay, but has not done any serious service since it was not really in a suitable condition. Over the last few weeks, Father Anthony and David, a postulant from the United States, have been working to get it up to scratch. See some photos of the progress:
David has an engineering degree which is being put to good use!

...while Father Anthony holds the bolts to stop them turning.

...and a bit of painting.
There's a little way to go yet, but please God she will serve us well in the future.

Thanks to Fr. Tim Finigan, I have only just discovered your blog, and I'm sorry I didn't do so sooner. It's a very accessible mix of spirituality and stories of daily life on Papa Stronsay.

A new Boat Of Doom!! It's lovely really. I'm just a water wimp. I don't know how to swim and so water terrifies me.
When we come next to visit you'll have to pick us up with your barge: what with three babies and all of the diapers, food, bottles of milk, bibs, etc necessary even for a ten minute outing...
