The Beginnings of a Craftsman

In the monastery one learns to do everything. Our young postulant, Aidan, expressed a desire to learn how to marbleise and decorate altars and churches. Jobs needed doing, and no better way to learn than to dive in.

With a few tips in two weeks he has taught himself the beginnings of decorating, stencilling and marbleising - trades that are so valuable to the restoration and to the rebuilding up of the Holy Church. What a beautiful job he has done with red and gold behind the altars, and a whole new shrine for the Holy Archangel St Michael.

For every altar pulled down, let us raise another to the True God! What the innate talents of a young person (and of so many young people) can do if only they are given a good environment. What beautiful work, thank you!
