Dear Rev. Fr. Michael Mary, F.SS.R. ,

I am very pleased to know that the Holy Father, Benedict XVI, has nominated the Rt. Rev. Fr. Hugh Gilbert, O.S.B. - a Benedictine Monk - Bishop of the diocese of Aberdeen.
By definition, a Monk is an exceptionally wealthy man and, as a Bishop, he is destined to take into the diocese the serenity and the simple rules of the monastic life infusing spirituality in any single act or statement.

Father Hermann Cohen's mother died without receiving Holy Baptism. In the eyes of the unwise 'she died as an unconverted Jewess' in spite of the many prayers offered for her by her priestly son. I have translated the following from his life which will be of interest for all of us who pray for souls that seem to live and die without the grace of conversion. Note that Fr. Dear Catholic Soul, We have just concluded our General Chapter where we considered our Congregation and its vocation in the Church and in the Diocese of Christchurch, New Zealand where the Bishop had decreed its expulsion. The attached letter expresses the convictions of our Congregation. This is not a task we embrace lightly.
