From 23 to 25 October, 2026, our Bishop Michael Mary, F.SS.R., accompanied by several confreres, had the joy to impart the ordination to the Diaconate and Priesthood to Fr Benoit and the Tonsure and first Minor Orders to Br Laurent, both Stellamarines at L' Œuvre de l'Étoile, near Nimes, France.
The work, begun in 1957, by the late Father Maurice Raffalli, has been without a priestly member since Father's death in 2020 at the age of 87.
Having assisted at the first vows of the Congregation in the 1990s, the Coronation of the Image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and its later enthronement in the beautiful sanctuary built by Fr Raffalli, it has been a very great joy for us to spend this week here with our friends of so many years.
Many people at the ordination spoke of the vast, quiet, almost hidden, but lasting foundational good Father did for many, many souls. Truly this little monastery is an image of paradise where the maxim that a Child of Mary is never lost is lived daily.
The Stellamarines (Stellamarins in French) are very little known in the English speaking world; in France they undertake a remarkable holy work under the guidance of their superior general Rev. Br Paschal, very worthy of support.
We hope that our friends will enjoy the photos taken of the the different Masses of Ordination. Please excuse that the following little film has a few glitches, travel and production work go together with a little difficulty.
